How to Evacuate from a Building in Case of Fire

If you hear a fire alarm or see signs of a fire, evacuate the building immediately. Follow these steps:

• Stay low to the ground and cover your mouth and nose with a cloth.
• Follow the EXIT signs to the nearest safe exit.
• Use the stairs to evacuate the building.
• Once you are outside, move away from the building and wait for emergency responders.

Help others who need assistance, but do not stop to collect personal belongings. Your safety is more important than your belongings.

If you become trapped in a smoke-filled room, try to find a source of fresh air. If your clothes catch fire, stop, drop, and roll.

Familiarize yourself with the evacuation map of your building so that you can evacuate safely in the event of a fire.
